Surgical [Stitch Up] Skills Faculty

The British Society for Dermatological Surgery is seeking BSDS Members to join the Surgical Skills Faculty for the annual ‘Stitch Up’ course. This is a one-day course aimed at teaching FY1, FY2, SHO and CMT doctors, nurses, physicians’ associates and other interested professionals, and covers basic skin surgery and suturing techniques on pig skin along with some introductory lectures on skin surgery.

The course is usually held in Bristol. The format of the course is similar to the Annual Surgical Workshop. Faculty will help with small group delegate practical skills teaching and may be invited to give a lecture or lead a practical session.

Applicants for the ‘Stitch Up’ faculty must either hold a UK substantive consultant post, be a SAS Doctor performing surgery within a Dermatology department or a Mohs Fellow. Please note applicants must be BSDS members.

The faculty are invited to attend a dinner on the evening prior to the course which gives the opportunity to catch up with colleagues and network. Any travel or accommodation costs incurred as part of the faculty will be reimbursed by the BSDS. A separate faculty program runs alongside the delegate lectures which attracts CPD.

If you are interested in joining the Skills Faculty, you may download the Application Form. These must be returned to [email protected].
