Head & Neck Anatomy for the Cutaneous Surgeon

Jan 7, 2021

–

Location: Bristol

Introduction:

This is a practical workshop and lecture course focusing on superficial head & neck anatomy relevant to skin cancer surgery as practiced by Dermatological Surgeons. Many anatomy texts and courses focus on deep anatomy, which can make it difficult to learn the precise relations of critical structures in or near the skin and superficial fascia. This course will address this area by using hands on training with important clinical examples and learning through performing dissections and relevant facial flaps.

Eligibility:

This course is primarily for BSDS members, and would be ideal for senior Dermatology trainees about to undertake a Dermatological surgery fellowship, or already in post. It will also be useful for any Consultant colleagues with skin cancer surgery as a large part of their practice, whether they are junior, keen to advance their practice, or as a refresher. It may also be of interest to colleagues from other specialties (e.g. Plastic surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Ear Nose and Throat, Ophthalmology), who would all be welcome, and we will have a multidisciplinary faculty. International colleagues are also welcome to apply. Discount for BSDS members.

Format:

Interactive lectures. Fresh frozen cadaver workshops with live video demonstrations. 2 delegates per head & neck specimen. Taught by a superb multidisciplinary faculty constituting experienced and expert surgeons from Dermatological surgery, Plastic surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and Oculoplastics. High ratio of faculty to delegates. Informal collegiate atmosphere.

Location:

Set in a fascinating and exciting major UK city well placed for travel access and an accompanying holiday if desired.
